Aromatherapy is a treatment using pure
essential plant oils to enhance or restore well-being by stimulating the body's
own natural healing process, together with a special massage technique, which
works on the nervous system and drainage system of the body, balancing and
harmonising its
functions.
Although the term aromatherapy is fairly recent, the origins of the use of
essentials oils can be traced back to the ancient Egyptians who used plant
extracts in ointments,pastes and incense, in cosmetics for beautifying, in
medicines to treat common illness of the day and in religious practices,
especially those surrounding birth and death.
Essential oils are absorbed through the skin and in a small part through the
lungs ,They are then carried around the body in the blood
stream.
Their therapeutic properties can help with such
conditions as fliud retention, digestive problems, PMS and pregnancy, as well as
inducing a feeling of relaxation and well-being.

I trained for my therapies with Athena an independent school in Willenhall, Staffordshire,qualifying in 1995 with I T E C (International Therapists Education Council) examination board.
Aromatherapy, Anatomy and Physiology were studied including an advanced course in Aromatherapy. Reflexology followed the next year.
I have studied REIKI healing with Reiki Master Judith Clough of London attuning to levels I and II.
I enjoy the ongoing challenges of working with people who are looking for a different way of healing themselves. I have a passion for working with the natural energies of the body believing them to be a great indicator to good health.
